Does a water fed pole do a good job?

water fed pole window cleaningSo you’ve just had a note drop through your door from your window cleaner informing you that from now on, he’s going to be using a water fed pole to clean your windows. Or perhaps you’re a window cleaner yourself and you’re wondering whether you should make the switch to cleaning windows by water fed pole instead of using a ladder and squeegee.

In both of these scenarios you will likely be asking yourself the same question, is window cleaning by water fed pole any good? Does it do a good job? Let’s try and answer those questions.

How does water fed pole window cleaning work?

This is a subject we cover in detail on our window cleaning services page but just to recap, water fed pole window cleaning works by pumping pure water through a pole and onto the surface of your window. This pure water – which has been filtered of any impurities – is then brushed around the glass and the soft bristles on the brush loosen any dirt or muck. The window is then rinsed off with the pure water by the operative leaving some remaining water droplets on the surface of the glass at the finish. These water droplets will then dry clean, leaving the glass clean and clear.

What to expect on the first clean

When your window cleaner uses a water fed pole to clean your windows for the first time, it is likely that you may not be all that impressed with the results. The simple reason for this is that as the water is applied to the glass it will also clean the seals or wood frames on the windows, seals and frames which will contain years’ worth of built up dirt and also soap residue from traditional window cleaning methods. Some of this soap residue and dirt will often continue to run down the glass after the operative has finished cleaning, meaning the window may have some runs of dirt left on it on the first or second cleans. The important thing to remember is that this is only a temporary issue. After your windows have been cleaned a couple of times, this problem should cease to occur. What results should you expect after this?

Once regular water fed pole cleaning is up and running

Once your windows have been cleaned using the water fed pole system for a couple of cleans, you will likely start to notice that your windows will be just as clean as they were when traditional methods were being used and you may even feel that they are cleaner than they were when traditional methods were being used. Why?

This is because the removal of soap from the window cleaning process means that there is less chance of any smears or soap marks being left on the glass, at least this should be the case if the operative is using the water fed pole system correctly. After years of using the water fed pole system to clean windows for our customers we can also say that many of them feel that their windows ‘stay cleaner for longer’ because of the pure water technology.

The Final Verdict

So does the water fed pole system do a good job? I can tell you that it does, at least it does once you get past the first few cleans. You may feel that as a business owner who uses the system I’m biased in my opinion, but you’ll have to trust me when I say that this is not the case and I wouldn’t have much of a business now if this method of cleaning windows didn’t produce good results.

So if you are a customer who is hesitant about the switch, please try to give your window cleaner a little time to master the method before giving up on them. If you are a window cleaner thinking about making the switch to water fed pole window cleaning then I would encourage you to do so, but you should prepare yourself for a few stressful months as you make the switch and deal with the problems that can arise on the first and second cleans when using this method for cleaning windows. After this however, you should be on your way to a safer working method which produces good quality results for your customers.
